Florida Public Services Union Members Graduate From SEIU Leadership Academy

A group of Florida Public Services Union members gathered in St. Petersburg last week for the Leadership Academy graduation ceremony.

The SEIU Leadership Academy program is a five month training program run by the Florida State Council and includes participants from all four SEIU Florida locals. Leadership Academy participants were asked to commit the last Saturday of each month for five months to attend training classes in their areas.

During the five month training, participants learned about: SEIU and the labor legacy, the economy, worksite power, holding politicians accountable, improving communications, getting involved in the community, and recruiting new activists and members.

This year nearly 50 SEIU members graduated from the Leadership Academy program.

The State Council is now accepting applications for the 2012 Leadership Academy program. If you are interested please download the application and return it to your nearest FPSU office.
