I am originally a native of Toledo, Ohio. My association with the labor movement started in 1972 when I became a member of local UAW 1058. At that time I was working on the paint line at an auto parts plant. I joined FPSU in 2009 as the Chief of Staff. I am married to Chris Allamanno and have three children, Charlie, JJ, and Ian.

I am a Florida native, born and raised in Palm Beach County. I have earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degree in Political Science at Florida State University. I have worked in the Florida House of Representatives’ Minority Office and as Senior Legislative Aide in State House District 100, taking a couple leaves of absence to work on the 2008 Presidential and 2010 Attorney General races. I enjoy exploring Florida’s politically, culturally and naturally diverse environment.

I worked for 20+ years for nonprofit organizations where I used my skills & abilities to helping others. I started working as an Organizer with SEIU-FPSU in 2007. I represent worker of the City of St. Pete., CDI and Manatee Head Start programs. I am very active in the Tampa Bay and St. Pete community. I serve on the Children Board of Tampa. I am also a member and Secretary of Operation Rainbow Push Coalition of Florida, NAACP of Tampa, and the CDC of Tampa.

Maria Jose’s involvement in community work started in high school. She found her drive for community engagement and activism throughout college.
She continued her activism after graduating with a B.A. in Political Science/International Studies from the University of South Florida. She was introduced to the labor movement through the 2012 presidential campaign with the SEIU Breakthrough Campaign as a Community Organizer.
She continues her passion for socio-economic, gender, racial, immigrant, and inclusive justice working as a Community/Labor Organizer for SEIU/FPSU. She has two daughters, a blind poodle, and resides in St. Petersburg FL.

I moved to Clermont, Florida in 1989 and became a School Bus Driver for Lake County School District. I got involved with SEIU in 1995 during an organizing campaign. I became a steward in the Transportation Department and in 2000 became the chief steward. I was also a part of the bargaining and Labor Management Team. In 2006, I left my job as a bus driver and joined FPSU as an Organizer for the Lake County School employees. I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my beautiful family.
