A History Worth Fighting For

In the City of St Pete, the union was formed by sanitation workers who engaged in a two month wildcat strike which kicked off shootings and beatings by the police department and two separate uprisings in the black community. This strike occurred at the same time as the sanitation strike in Memphis where Dr King was assassinated. In fact over 30 cities throughout the south struck during the same two months. All strikes occurred without a union involved. All strikes were led by the men who picked up the trash.
