Florida Retirement System Rules Are About to Change

Today’s Tallahassee Democrat features an article that warns public employees to be prepared for smaller paychecks starting July 1. The new pension reform legislation was signed by Governor Scott and will go into effect on July 1. Under these new reforms, which will affect roughly 655,000 public workers, public employees will now be asked to contribute 3% of their salaries to their pension plans. Public employees in Florida have not received a raise in over four years.
