Every day, thousands of support staff in Palm Beach County schools show up before the sun rises and stay long after students go home.
We’re the ones:
-
Cleaning classrooms
-
Feeding children
-
Assisting students with disabilities
-
Ensuring safe transportation
-
Supporting every part of the school day
We are essential to student success, yet we are treated like we’re invisible.
We Are the District’s Lowest Paid Workers
$28,000.
That’s the average salary for many of us.
How does the School District expect anyone to live on that in Palm Beach County, where the cost of rent, food, gas, and basic needs keeps rising?
Instead of relief, the District has hit us with another blow: rising health insurance premiums. That means even less take-home pay for workers who are already barely scraping by.
We Asked Our Members How They’re Surviving. The Answers Broke Our Hearts.
-
Some are working two or three jobs.
-
Others are skipping meals so their children can eat.
-
Many are delaying medical care because they can’t afford it.
These are the painful realities behind the smiling faces that greet your children, guide them through their day, and support the educators in the classroom.
We’ve Always Been Treated as an Afterthought
Let’s be honest: the Palm Beach County School District has never prioritized its support staff.
While other school personnel see recognition, we are left behind—fighting to be seen, fighting to be paid fairly, fighting just to survive.
We are done being silent.
We are done being treated like second-class workers.
That’s Why We’re Protesting.
We’re standing up and speaking out to demand:
✔️ Fair wages that match the cost of living
✔️ Affordable healthcare, not rising premiums
✔️ Respect for the critical work we do every day
We are not protesting just for ourselves — we are fighting for the future of our schools.
If the District continues to ignore its lowest-paid workers, how will it attract and keep the people who keep schools running?
We Deserve to Live — Not Just Survive
We love our jobs. We love our students.
But love doesn’t pay the bills.
No one who dedicates their life to supporting children and schools should have to live in poverty.
We are custodians, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, classroom assistants, and office staff.
We are the backbone of Palm Beach County schools.
And we are done being hidden.
It’s Time for the District to:
️ SEE US.
HEAR US.
VALUE US.
